His mummified body was found in 1952, workers engaged in the development of peat near the village Vindebi in Schleswig-Holstein. With spore-pollen analysis revealed that the teenager died in the Iron Age to the age of 14. In 2002, with the help of radiocarbon analysis of the time of his death were more accurately dated - between 41 and 118 years of our era. X-rays showed the presence of defects on the lower leg bones, indicating that the depletion and, consequently, growth disturbances.


Nevertheless, some scientists believe that the teenager from Vindebi was killed.
